Trick or Treat at the New Neighbor’s
By Nicole Loos Miller
(100 words )
Three trick-or-treaters
shivered in the snow.
“New neighbor,” gulped the ghost.
“I heard she’s a goblin,” whispered the troll.
They considered turning back….
But something smelled delicious!
Magic to lure them in?
“No, that’s gingerbread,” said the witch, wisely.
Squaring their shoulders,
They tiptoed up the path.
Limbs shaking, they approached.
What if they were wrong?
“TRICK OR TREAT,” three voices trembled.
A kind woman greeted them,
Handing them steaming cups.
“Hot chocolate for this snowy night?”
A single sip and the chill was gone
Replaced with happiness and peace.
Chocolate with a hint of gingerbread:
A magical Halloween treat.
LOVE! Warm and magical and delightful.
